July 24th 2000, Chatham, ON: Canquest Communications (Wireless) Inc. and NMI Mobility have paired to launch prepaid wireless across Northern British Columbia across to Nunavut and including the Yukon and Northwest Territories. The customer base spans four time zones and covers over four million square kilometers equating to one-third of Canada's land mass.

As a cellular network provider, NMI Mobility realized that in addition to the current substantial post-paid growth, that an equally large prepaid Customer base required wireless wares and services. While following the path of southern networks, NMI became abundantly aware of the hurdles necessary to overcome ensuring maximum customer control without jeopardizing the existing post-paid base.
