June 9, 2000 / Chatham, Ontario, Canada - Canquest Communications announced a new program today called GetReal© with Canquest, which features Prepaid 1-Plus© calling from home with Real-Time Electronic Bill Presentment of long distance phone calls.

Primarily targeted at the Telephone Companies, the copyrighted technology allows customers to remain PIC'd to their long distance carrier of choice but pay for and view their calls real-time.

"Similar to when you use your bank card to purchase items, GetReal©allows customers to budget their long distance spending buy purchasing minutes real-time", states CEO John W. Smith. "As an added appeal, your phone calls with appear on the Internet within a couple of seconds of hanging up, which completely eliminates the need for a paper bill."

"There are tremendous advantages for both the Telco's and the customers", added Smith. "From the Telco's perspective, there are huge cost savings by not having to produce and mail paper copies of statements. Beyond that, there are now opportunities to target market to their customer with electronic "smart" inserts and advertising. And perhaps best of all for the Telco is that they have virtually eliminated the possibility of any bad debt, since the customer has already paid for their phone calls to say nothing about the positive cash flow effect of prepaid."

These savings and cash flow benefits to the Telco should result in better rates. A customer no longer has to worry about credit checks and deposits traditionally requested by the Telco. For the first time, you are able to choose how much you want to spend on long distance and budget accordingly, no embarrassment of having your toll restricted. When a customer utilizes their account balance, long distance calling is blocked until the account is reloaded. No negative customer confrontations."
