Version 7 of the Hypercom ICE 5500 Terminal Software Application
Ready for Production Release
Datawest is pleased to announce the availability of our new
Hypercom ICE5500 Terminal Software Application (Version 7).
As of November 11 2002, any new terminals being loaded by
Datawest’s fulfillment agents (RBA and ITS) will receive this
new version of code. Any ICE 5500 terminals currently in
production or held by you in inventory will require a download
to upgrade to this new version (software maintenance charges
apply for this upgrade).
Version 7 of the Hypercom ICE 5500 terminal application is a
major upgrade. The significant value-added features of the new
release are:
• Hypercom’s ICE PAC
Hypercom’s epicNetz ICE PAC value-added service has been
included in this release. This services allows you to customize
each terminal with advertising displayed on the attract screen
and additions to the receipts for merchant logo or
coupons/marketing messages. You can sign up for this service by
contacting Jennifer Sicilia at Rycom Inc.
Tel. 905 502 6616 ext. 241 Fax 905 502-6612jennifers@rycom.ca
• Datawest’s Pre-Paid Long Distance phone card
In partnership with Canquest and Datawave, Datawest has included
a value-added phone card activation service, which will bring
additional revenue opportunities to you and your merchants.
Contact Dave Linton from Datawave at ((905) 333-0058 Extension
253) for more details on this added service and how to
distribute product to your merchants.
• Quick Service Retail (QSR) option
To allow you to sell more effectively to the fast food industry
we have added the ability to customize the terminal for quick
throughput. By identifying the terminal as a QSR terminal some
checkpoint prompts and certain options (e.g. cash back and tip)
have been removed from the clerk dialogue to meet the needs of
this sector.
How do I get the new Version 7 terminal application?
For terminals installed in production or held by you in
inventory, you can arrange to have the Version 7 of our Hypercom
ICE 5500 application downloaded.
Maintenance charges detailed in your Software License Agreement
(SLA) apply to this download.
If you have existing maintenance support then downloading
Version 7 is included as part of our SLA agreement.
Some clients with earlier versions of the SLA have maintenance
as an option. If you are one of the clients with an earlier
contract and you opted to waive the maintenance fee then there
is a ‘buy-in’ fee per terminal to obtain maintenance. On payment
of this ‘buy-in’ fee you can download the Version 7 of the code
to your terminals.
How do I activate the optional value added services?
To activate the optional services you need to tell Datawest to
enable the terminal the feature. Sending a change request to our
data-entry will trigger the appropriate options on your terminal
definitions at the switch. Once the merchant or your support
staff has performed a ‘refresh configuration’ at the terminal
the change or changes will be available.
The normal change fee per terminal applies to this process.
